The Queens Botanical Garden’s adoption programs allow both individuals and organizations the opportunity to support the Garden and receive recognition for their committment to our work.

Garden Adoptions
The Garden’s permanent collections and seasonal displays are the foundation for our vision to be the Botanical Garden noted for presentation of plants as unique expressions of cultural traditions. We work hard to present our gardens as places for contemplation and relaxation as well as demonstrate different aspects of cultural and environmental stewardship. The beauty of QBG extends beyond plants and flowers to include native birds and insects, foods from cultures around the world, natural decomposition and composting techniques, and the Senior and Children’s Gardens.

We invite you to participate in the seasonal adoption of one of QBG’s flowerbeds or gardens. Such sponsorship will receive signage in the appropriate garden during the growing season (June through October). To make your selection, visit and explore the different areas on your own or with one of our knowledgeable staff members. Please call the Development Office at 718.886.3800 ext. 330 to set up an appointment.

Adopt-A-Tree

As trees often live beyond the lifespan of a single individual, they have long been used by cultures around the world to mark notable happenings, such as births, marriages, deaths, and significant public events. Through the Adopt-A-Tree program at the Queens Botanical Garden, you are able to choose from among a select number of mature or new trees available for adoption to best commemorate your event. Possible plantings include Flowering Quince, Spice Bush, Spice Viburnum, Lilac, and Winter Daphne. New trees are planted during the appropriate season; trees available for adoption frequently change. For more information and to ensure that your choice is available, please call Tim Heimerle, Director of Development & Marketing/Assistant Director of the Garden, at 718.886.3800 ext. 330.

Bench Adoptions

Most of the Garden's benches date from the 1964 World's Fair or are Parks Department leftovers.  All have been in constant use for more than 30 years and are in need of replacement.  Most are made from materials that are neither sustainable nor repairable and create severe, ongoing maintenance issues.  With our award-winning Sustainable Buildings and Landscapes Project now complete, we seek to bring the strong caliber of this new facility into the adjecent landscapes.  The Garden is thrilled to be working with Kenneth Lynch & Sons, the fabricator of the original 1964 World's Fair Bench, to create a replica using modern, sustainable materials.  Each adopted bench will be laser engraved with the name of the donor(s) and/or a short message of their choosing.  Made from powder-coated cast iron and whit oak, the benches are anticipated to have a lifespan of approximately 20 years.  For more information, please call Tim Heimerle, Director of Development & Marketing/Assistant Director of the Garden, at 718.886.3800 ext. 330.
