Music in the Garden 2013

Quintet of the Americas

Celebrate Father's Day as we welcome back the popular and talented Quintet of the Americas, featuring music by Queens composers. Presented in collaboration with the Latin American Cultural Center of Queens, the performance will be held in the Visitor & Administration Building Auditorium.

 

The Yowana Sari Gamelan Orchestra
Saturday, July 13, 6:15 to 7:45pm
Fee: Free with Garden Admission

Don’t miss this visually and aurally stunning concert featuring Yowana Sari, a Balinese-style gamelan orchestra, on stage in the Oak Allée.   The haunting sounds of this percussion ensemble will be particularly effective and enjoyable in an outdoor setting.  Bring blankets for seating on the Oak Allée!

 

Irish/Celtic/Folk Fiddler, Tony DeMarco
Saturday, August 10, 6:15 to 7:45pm
Fee: Free with Garden Admission

Join us as we welcome the popular Irish fiddler, Tony DeMarco, a leading proponent of the New York/Sligo fiddle style, along with bouzouki player extraordinaire Eamon O’Leary, and  Irish step dancer, Siobhán Butler, an accomplished percussive dancer who has performed internationally with the likes of Celtic Crossroads and Cherish the Ladies.

Pack a picnic snack to enjoy on the Oak Allée during the performance.

 

Arab Music and Dance Ensemble, Zikrayat
Saturday, September 7, 6:15 to 7:45pm
Fee: Free with Garden Admission

Zikrayat (meaning “memories” in Arabic), is a musical and dance ensemble dedicated to presenting the classical music and dance tradition of Egypt, Lebanon, and the greater Arab World.  Their lively repertory includes traditional and standard numbers, as well as original compositions in both the classical and folkloric styles.

Pack a picnic snack to enjoy on the Oak Allée during the performance.
