The Artist Within: The Urge to Create

This theme raises many questions.  What inspires a person to create art? How is creativity expressed over a lifetime? Who is an artist?

As doctors, teachers, social workers, business people, commercial artists -- these artists use their lifeimes of unique experiences to give perspective, substance, depth, and subtlety to their creations.

What unites them with each other and with all artists is their need to explore, create and express themselves through the many media represented here and to strive for excellence in their work.

Why do artists create? Perhaps there are as many answers as there are artists.

On view in the Visitor & Administration Building Gallery June 1 through September 30, 2012.
