Get your fruits and vegetables here...literally!

Need carrots? Low on squash? You're in luck!  The Farmer's Market returns on July 11th through November 14th to the QBG Parking lot.  Open each Friday from 7am until 5pm, shoppers can purchase fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers, and plants (many of them organically-grown) directly from the growers.  Need more information?  Call (718) 886-3800 ext. 200.

Congratulations QBG! V&A Center receives LEED® Platinum Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council
With its three working roofs, an exemplary heating and cooling system, composting toilets, and other environmentally green techniques, the Visitor and Administration Center has achieved Platinum certification, which is the highest possible rating from the LEED® system (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).  S. Richard Fedrizzi, President of the U.S. Green Building Council presented the certification during the Garden's 13th Annual Rose Ball on Tuesday, June 17, 2008.  For more information on this exciting certification or to schedule a tour of the V&A Center call (718) 886-3800 ext.230.

Here come the interns!
The Queens Botanical Garden is excited to announce it's newest group of high school and college interns.  This year, we welcome fourteen talented students as they come together to participate in the 2008 QBG Summer Internship Program. Each will work in either the Children's Garden, Compost Education, and/or Horticulture areas. The program, which begins on July 7th, will be an eight-week journey of learning and real work experience in a living museum with an exciting, diverse audience.  For more information on the intern program call Valerie Jurado, QBG Program/Intern Coordinator at (718) 886-3800 ext. 204.
