Queens Botanical Garden Hosts Third Annual Arbor Festival

April 10, 2013- Flushing NY - On Sunday, April 28, 2013, from 11am to 6pm,  Queens Botanical Garden invites all to celebrate springtime with us at our third annual Arbor Festival!   Come and enjoy a petting zoo, old-fashioned games, arts and crafts activities, live music, Hiccups the Clown and facepainting, workshops, garden tours, bird walks, food and craft vendors, consultations with tree and compost experts, a beer tasting tent and more!   

Arbor Festival schedule of events:
11am-6pm: vendor tabling on the Oak Allee
11am-12pm: Bird and Nature Walk Tour with QBG staffer Shari Romar
11am-12:30pm: Outdoor Composting Workshop in Mandarin (compost yard)
11am-4pm: Ongoing Compost Demonstrations (compost yard)
11:30am-12pm:  Fresh Meadows Poets reading (Main Stage)
12-12:30pm:  Tai Chi demonstration (Main Stage)
12:30-2:30pm:  Art Workshop on the Terrace.  Artist Iandry will be holding community art projects, open to all ages.  His art exhibit “Fish and Crushed Can Story” is on display in the Gallery of the Visitor & Administration Building and also features an interactive print-making station.
1-1:45pm : Live music!  The band “No Regrets” will perform the first of 3 sets on the Main Stage.
2-3pm:  Garden Tour with Executive Director and Tree Experts.  Join Arborist and VP/Division Manager, David McMaster of Bartlett Tree Experts, the world’s leading scientific tree and shrub-care company, as he leads a tour discussing the health and stability of trees in Queens- post Hurricane Sandy. Residents and business owners with lingering concerns and those affected by damaged or downed trees are encouraged to attend this special tour. No registration required.
2-3pm: Indoor Composting Workshop in Mandarin (compost yard)
2-2:45pm: Live music with “No Regrets”
3-3:45pm: Live music with “No Regrets”
Activities for Children in the Cherry Circle
11am-1pm: Silly Cheeks Facepainting
12-4 pm:  QBG Petting Zoo
1-4pm: Hiccups the Clown, Face Painting and Balloon Art
11-4pm:  Old-Fashioned Children’s Games

Admission to this event is included in Garden Admission: $4 for adults, $3 for seniors and $2 for children 3-12 and students with ID.  Free for QBG members.

Queens Botanical Garden is located at 43-50 Main Street in Flushing, Queens.   On-site parking is available for $5 per car; street parking is nearby.  QBG is accessible via the Q44 and Q22 buses and the 7 train (Main Street/Flushing stop).
