On March 17, 2012, Farmingdale State College Ornamental Horticulture Chairperson Michael Veracka will give a special talk on bamboo from 2 to 3:30pm at Queens Botanical Garden. The lecture, entitled “The Amazing World of Bamboo: Incorporating Bamboo into Your Landscape for Beauty, Food, and Products” will take place in the auditorium of the Visitor and Administrative Building.

During the sweeping survey of the world’s most popular plant, the noted landscape architect will reveal why bamboo is so sought after around the world and the surprising number of popular products on the shelves today that incorporate the hardy plant. Veracka will also share how city dwellers in even the most urban environments can grow and incorporate bamboo in their own homes.
