|October 2007 Construction Update
The Visitor & Administration Center officially opened on September 27th. All the construction fences are down, and the building and surrounding landscapes welcome visitors. The Garden's Main Street gate is open again, inviting visitors onto the new entry plaza, where they can enjoy the rainwater-fed fountain, meandering watercourse, and benches made from salvaged White Oak (Quercus alba) trees. The green roof is also accessible by bluestone chip paths from either the terrace or entry plaza.
The auditorium is finished with a new set of public restrooms available. The rainwater and graywater systems will soon be calibrated and fully operational. Planting is nearly complete, with new plants in the constructed wetland, cleansing biotope and bioswale. Commissioning of electrical systems, testing and balancing and punchlist items will be executed this fall.
